SRH essentials – for primary care

The SRH essentials course is aimed specifically at healthcare practitioners working in primary care settings.

It provides an interactive day with scenario based learning, presentations, time for discussion, questions and role play. It is relevant for those needing an introduction to SRH and also provides a useful update for more experienced staff. These courses are delivered in a variety of locations across the UK. SRH essentials is not a competency based course and it is not assessed.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs
  • Recommend an appropriate method of emergency contraception
  • Review the COC, POP and injection contraceptive methods
  • Carry out sexual health risk assessments
  • Identify when patients are at risk of STIs

A basic introduction to sexual health care for frontline and non-clinical staff

All staff have an important role to play in making every contact count and are often in key positions to respond to concerns about sexual health. This course is to enable all those who come into contact with adults and young people to develop awareness of, and the ability to act on, concerns about their sexual health needs, welfare and safety.

Making the most of the enhanced service contracts clinically and operationally

BASHH sexually transmitted infection foundation (STIF) training

Suitable for doctors, nurses, health care assistants and pharmacists. This course provides multidisciplinary training in the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the diagnosis, management and prevention of STIs.

After approximately 10 hours of pre course e-learning, delegates attend 2 face-to-face study days.

Contraception and LARC updates

Reproductive healthcare updates will provide you with the most recent data and other information to support your clinical practice and professional development. We offer both bespoke training sessions - for GP network, cluster, locality multi-disciplinary staff and protected learning time (PLT) sessions on contraception and reproductive healthcare for each borough designed in collaboration with local primary care staff.

My Body Back

This project supports women who have been sexually assaulted or abused to engage in cervical screening and sexual and reproductive health services.

We run a multidisciplinary clinic in partnership with MBB to provide survivor-led and trauma informed healthcare. Women can self refer via their website.

Watch our webinar which guides clinicians in the provision of cervical screening for patients who find intimate examinations challenging, particularly in the context of previous sexual trauma.
